A charter school is a type of public school. However, it operates independently and has a lot more flexibility than what you would see from a so-called conventional or traditional school.
These institutions do not charge tuition like a private school would. Any student can go to one if they are in the proper school district.
How Do They Work?
Charter schools operate using what they call a charter, which is also known as a contract. This is a statement of purpose that reveals the school’s mission and what it prioritizes. It might also talk about its methods of assessing each child’s grades, which may be a little different or more creative than what you would see from a more traditional option.
When a parent is thinking about sending their kids to a charter school, what might appeal to them could be the laxer rules regarding the curriculum of these institutions. Assuming you are, then you can move forward. If your child is enthusiastic about the way they’re learning and you’re pleased with the results as well, then there’s no reason why they can’t stay there.
